Q: Can anyone compete?
A: The Competition is limited to guitar players who are not currently signed to a major recording label or have been signed to a major recording label over the past three years.
Q: What’s the prize for the regional champion.
A: In addition to securing a spot in the Semi-final, the winner of each regional competition will receive 75% of everything collected in the tip jar that night and other prizes.
Q: What kind of equipment can I bring?
A: Due to space constraints, we prefer you bring a 1x12 speaker cab, however, 2x12 will be allowed.
Q: How many pedals can I use?
A: To allow competitors to keep “their sound” yet keep the competition focused on skill only TWO pedals will be allowed to be used in any combination of the
following: Overdrive, Reverb, and Delay (plus a tuner). If you bring any other pedals on stage you will be disqualified.
Q: What am I supposed to do while the other guitarist is soloing? Stand and watch?
A: While one contestant is soloing, the other must play rhythm. There will be no playing over each other. Both contestants will have equal playing time.
Q: How many guitars can I bring? What happens if I break a string?
A: You will be allowed one back up guitar. It must be tuned and ready to play.
If you break a string during your set, it is up to you to either keep playing or switch guitars. If you switch guitars, the band will keep playing. You cannot make up lost time.
Q: What happens if I have an equipment malfunction?
A: If there is an equipment malfunction, the house band will keep playing. If you cannot correct your equipment malfunction, you will forfeit.
Q: Will be there be someplace where I can store my gear?
A: There will not be a secured area for equipment. 6 String showdown and event venues will not be responsible for lost or stolen equipment. Make arrangements to protect your gear, it is your responsibility.

A: We hope that doesn't happen but all entry fees are nonrefundable.Q: What are my responsibilities at the venue?
A: It is your responsibility to get with the stage manager at least 1 set, but not more than 2 sets before your set. You need to have your amp and pedals ready for stagehands to set up as easily and quickly as possible.Q:Is there anything else I need to know?
A: Be tuned and ready to play when you walk onto the stage. There will be no loud tuning while on stage. If you are not ready or do not have your equipment ready for the stagehands by the time the previous set is over, you will forfeit. No trash talking or insults between competitors before or during the event will be tolerated. Anyone trash talking on social media will immediately be disqualified and their entry fee will not be refunded. No exceptions.
